Ashford Manor Golf Course

A comprehensive new irrigation system at Ashford Manor Golf Course has been designed, installed and is maintained by Ocmis. Commissioned by McMillan Shiels associates, we have provided an in-house solution for an extensive system that includes:

·         18 greens, practice green, chipping green and turf nursery

·         18 tees and practice hole

·         Fairways on the par 4 and 5 holes and all the approaches

·         Surround watering on the greens using Eagle 750 550 sprinklers to water particularly high wear areas

High quality Rain Bird sprinklers are used throughout the scheme, with Eagle 750s on the greens, Eagle 700s on the approaches and fairways, and Rain Bird 7005 sprinklers on the tees and front lawn.

A 376m3 water storage tank was constructed from glass fused to steel and is coloured green to comply with planning regulations and blend with the natural surroundings.

A 3m x 4m pump house featuring two Lowara Hydrovar pumps provides a system flow rate of 60m3/hr.

The Rain Bird Stratus 2 control system provides real time control and monitoring of the system, and incorporates full flow management with remote control. The remote control system is operated through the Course Manager’s mobile phone, removing the need for a dedicated radio frequency and licence.

All of the pipe work and cable was installed by Ocmis with minimum ground disturbance using our own Case 80HP and Ditch Witch 110HP vibrating mole ploughs.

The primary water source at Ashford Manor is an existing well, and it was necessary to adjust the licence to meet the new requirements. Ocmis also installed a supplementary potable water supply from the water main, and fitted a water source control panel to ensure that water is always drawn from these sources in the most economically efficient manner, and in compliance with the requirements of the providers.

The irrigation project at Ashford Manor was undertaken as part of a major course refurbishment, which also included woodland maintenance and some bunker and tee remodelling.
